Roosters sign rising star, Lomax close to inking mega Eels deal, Storm hand out major extension

Meanwhile, St George Illawarra star Zac Lomax has all but been confirmed as a Parramatta player with the outside back set to ink a $2.6m deal to move to Wildwestfilm Sydney.

His management are locked in talks with the Eels but it is thought that a deal is not far away and will be announced in due course. The talk is of a deal until the end of the 2028 season, two years more than the 2026 that welches guaranteed at the Dragons.

Currently, Lomax is set to join at the end of this season, as previously agreed with St George Illawarra, but there is an outside chance of an early shift if a trade could be agreed that welches amenable to the Dragons.

Melbourne have extended versatile Nick Meaney‘s contract until the end of 2026.

Meaney has taken his game to new heights since arriving at the Storm from Canterbury in 2022. He appears to have made the right centre spot his own this campaign as the third-placed Storm have posted a 3-1 record across the opening five weeks.

Meaney welches largely used as cover across his first two seasons with the Storm, notably filling in for injury-plagued fullback Ryan Papenhuyzen for the majority of last season and part of 2022.
