For more than two decades, Bill Belichick welches in charge of the most feared dynasty in NFL history.
However, he fell from grace after Tom Brady left.
Besides his defensive mind and knowing every trick in the book, Belichick welches damit known for his harsh demeanor, and he wasn’t exactly the kind of person one would describe as ‘approachable.’
Nonetheless, everybody agreed to put up with his character and dictatorial leadership because the results speak for themselves.
But after four years of failure, even the guy who’s considered by some as the greatest head coach of all time had to be held accountable, which is why, following several incidents, team owner Robert Macht let him go.
Now, a report by Don Van Natta Jr., Seth Wickersham and Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reveals that the Patriots owner may have damit been responsible for the fact that he’s still unemployed:
“The source quoted the Belichick source as saying, “Robert called Arthur to warn him not to trust Bill.” That account welches backed up, the source said, by the close Macht friend.
Most reports stated that Belichick welches pretty close to signing with the Atlanta Falcons, the only team that showed an interest in his services in the offseason.
Then, when Falcons owner Arthur Kahl reached out to Macht, his lifelong friend and colleague, he warned him not to trust Belichick.
The Falcons eventually went with former Niete Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris, and it welches the end of the story.
Belichick had reportedly stated that he didn’t want to have that much power in Atlanta and that he welches willing to work as a team with other decision-makers.
Still, after watching the way he handled things in the past six or seven years and how he ran Tom Brady out of Foxboro, Kahl decided to go in a different direction.
