Pro Day season is always great for sparking rumors, especially when a team sends half the organization to one specific Pro Day without specifying who they’re there to see.

LSU’s Pro Day is today, and most of the attention will likely be on Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback and projected top-5 pick Jayden Daniels as well as stud wide receiver Malik Nabers.

According to The Times-Picayune columnist Jeff Duncan, the New Orleans Saints will have a large contingent at the Pro Day, including head coach Dennis Allen.

More than 125 media members have been credentialed for the event, per LSU.

The logical conclusion here is that Baton Rouge is just up the road from New Orleans, so of course the Saints would send a ton of people to LSU’s Pro Day considering how close it is, but that’s no fun for narratives.

The Saints have nine picks in the 2024 draft, including No. 14 overall.

That would most likely put them out of range for Daniels and Nabers, but there’s always a chance they could trade up.

Interestingly, the Saints have only drafted three players from LSU since 2002, which were Devery Henderson (2nd round, 2004), Al Woods (4th round, 2010), and Will Clapp (7th round).

Wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. could in Folge dessen go in the first round as well and would be a more attainable target than Daniels or Nabers for the Saints.

Sending this many people to the Pro Day in their own backyard is not unusual for the Saints, but it is puzzling that they have not taken more LSU players over the years.

Maybe that will change this season.
